The savings are accrued to customers through way discount of 2 % and this new tariff is valid up to February 2011.

It is applicable to two broad classification of customers namely- electricity only and  duel fuel customers. The new tariff plan replaced the popular Energy Discount 4 plan.

The new tariff comes with a levy which is imposed on the consumers but only on those customers who leave the tariff early and the charges applicable for electricity only and duel fuel tariff plans are 10 pounds and 30 pounds respectively.

Customers have the various choices for mode of payment namely- direct debit or cash/ cheque. But the matter of caution here is that payment through cash/ cheque mode proves to be more expensive as against the first mode of payment.

It costs more money to Brits by not switching their energy suppliers

November 2nd, 2009

It has been estimated that nine out of 10 households have saved money on their gas and electricity bills. It is primarily due to switching to a new deal. It is a analysis of study by Ebico, the UK’s only not-for-profit energy supplier.

It further revealed that the nation’s complacency is putting a drain on homeowners’ finance, especially in winters. A shocking fact was revealed which concluded saying that only 49 % of those surveyed had actually made the switch. One of the top official of the reputed energy company commented that around third people in the UK believe that all energy companies are the same, which may go some way to explain the reluctance to switch.

Since energy costs are rising, it becomes of utmost importance that where is the hard earned money of the consumers are going and for what they are paying is crucial too. It has been also realized that one in five of Brits. Said they would swap suppliers to stop giving money to fat cat bosses.

The reason for reluctance by consumers are different as in the survey conducted, 45 % respondents concluded saying that the process of switch over is full of hassles while the 33 % respondents concluded saying that they do not think they will get a better deal after switching. Not only this, customers get fear of filling complicated forms and also have a fear to lose their energy supplier, if they switch.

Although process of switching may appear complicated and dull but it is not so as it is quite simple and people just have a wrong perception to fill complicated forms.

At Rupizcompare.co.uk, energy price comparison calculator is provided which helps in comparing different tariffs and rates. It also tells, how much user can save by switching over to different supplier and the saving is of substantial amount and not a meager one.

It has been explained that there is no interruption of gas and electricity supply as all the wires, pipes and pipes stay exactly the same. It is only the supplier who changes and sends the bill.

Paying energy bills through cash costs more

October 15th, 2009

Most of the energy suppliers are charging more from clients from non-direct debit customers to pay their bills is said by one of the campaign group, despite of banning unfair charges. The energy regulator Ofgem aims to eliminate any price difference for customers choosing to pay by cash or cheque with quarterly bills or pay through direct debit. One of the energy expert concludes saying that consumers paying quarterly by cash or cheque are still being overcharged despite a new ruling saying that these customers should not have to pay more than the cost to serve this payment method and also concludes saying that figures indicate that on average, standard credit customers could be overpaying by around £47 a year.. The statement made with the conviction is that suppliers have plenty of time to respond to the new licence condition and it seems some suppliers have precious little appetite to provide a fair deal for their cash and cheque customers. It has been pointed that it is only EDF which considering revised pricing but the players like E.ON, Britishgas,Scottishpower and Npower have no plans to reduce their prices for cash and cheque customers. In one of the interview it has been stated that what the companies are doing is when they’re able to drive down costs, they’re passing those savings on to the customers. At this point of time, some information on statistics is of immense importance and it goes like 50% of the fuel poor and millions of elderly customers pay by cash or cheque among which many miss out on cheaper online or direct debit deals because they don’t use the internet or have a bank account. It is estimated that any supplier who breaks from the pack and does the right thing will surely reap the rewards.
