Mere 50 percent clients are satisfied from there energy suppliers in Britain

October 9th, 2009

If statistics about the energy suppliers gives you real picture about the satisfaction scenario of the clients then it goes like only 51% of customers think their energy supplier is giving them value for money, while 60% believe their supplierhas not put them on the best gas and electricity deal, pointed by one of the survey conducted. The parameters used in conducting the survey are billing services, customer service, best deal and value for money. According to the statement of the expert of this domain is that there is no excuse for consumers putting up with bad service. The firm that is rated best for 79.2% overall customer satisfaction, six times is Scottish & Southern Energy. The service provider that was voted the best improver, with customer satisfaction increasing by 11% on lat year’s survey, taking it to fourth place is known as Britishgas. The provider that was the second best improver going up to second place is known as E.ON and Scottish power moved to fifth place. In this race, EDF also fell one place to third, with two thirds of its customers satisfied (66.6%). There is no point sticking to a single supplier, if there is a compromise of service as its time to search new supplier and switch towards it. Although Npower has seen an 8% positive increase on last year but it is rated worst for customer satisfaction for the second year running. To this, the statement of the senior official of the service provider came that “Often the improvements we have made take time to come through in terms of overall customer experience.”

Price shock for fixed E.ON customers

October 9th, 2009

One of the energy giant called E.ON is planning put clients on fixed price energy tariffs which ends later this week, straight on to new capped tariffs which are 5.8% more expensive than its standard tariff prices. The finishing date for the tariffs like the Price Protection tariffs (v13 - v17) and EnergySaver tariffs (v1 – v4) is 1 October 2009. It ws stated that the clients who do not inform the E.ON about switching to another deal are required to pay an average of £1,198 a year for their gas and electricity, after being put on new Price Protection and EnergySaver deals - over £237 more than the cheapest dual fuel deal on the market. According to the sources of E.ON, it was stated that both the new price Protection and EnergySaver deals will cost 5.8% more than the current standard prices, however customers will not see any rises above those that they sign up to for the duration of the deal, as well as benefiting if prices fall. It was also stated that customers who are on the price protection tariff ending this week will automatically be put on the new price protection deal. To add to your knowledge, it is only available to households whose deals have just ended. The tariff promises to fix gas and electricity prices until spring 2011 and does not come with any early cancellation charges.

It has been pointed that households on the energy saver tariffs also ending this Thursday will also be put onto a new exclusive EnergySaver deal, which will fix energy prices until 1 April 2011, and also has no early cancellation charges. To avoid any hassles, the firm is notifying all affected customers of the changes by letter ahead of the renewal date, giving them the opportunity to discuss other options. It is the new price protection and energysaver tariffs that are over £237 more expensive than the cheapest deal available - Scottish Power’s online energy saver tariff. The tariff which was launched recently is available in 4 areas out of 14 areas and iSave is available in other 10 areas as the cheapest which is owned by energy supplier known as First Utility which makes E.ON, on average, £221 more expensive than the iSave deal. It is applicable for customers renewing. In this plan, paperless billing is not mandatory, however customers can choose to pay this way if they want. It has been pointed that the revelation comes hot-on-the-heels of the news that customers on Scottish Power’s fixed energy tariffs are also being put straight onto a new, more expensive, fixed price deal. The interesting point to be noted here is that E.ON customers are lucky that they are not being put onto a deal with early cancellation fees and can switch suppliers and tariffs whenever they wish. According to the sources, it has been pointed that Ofgem is considering whether ScottishPower is unfairly locking customers into a new energy deal, after its fixed-rate deal ended last month and customers were put on a more expensive capped tariff.

The cheapest winter gas bills promissed by E.ON

October 5th, 2009

One of the Britain’s biggest energy suppliers has launched a new tariff that claims it will offer the cheapest gas bills this
winter is known as E.ON. The tariff propounded as WinterGas claims to provide cheaper gas than any of the “big six” energy suppliers standard gas tariffs but it is interesting to see that there are number of different online tariffs that provide cheaper gas this winter. In quotes unquotes, it has also been stated that WinterGas does not rank as high in the best buy tables when compared to online accounts. It further claims that this will be the cheapest gas bills this winter compared to other major suppliers’ standard plans, at average usage until 31 March 2010. It is also stated that the households will save the average £77 a year compared to the average UK standard gas bill. The advantages of this are that it is available as a dual fuel or gas-only deal. Moreover it does not come with any cancellation fees. Not only this, The existing and new clients can be both benefited by this new tariff. Recently, in one of the statement made by the firm E.ON it was stated that the people who prefer to pay by cash or cheques are required to pay their dues on monthly basis compared to the customers who make the payment through direct debit can make their payments on quarterly basis but the WinterGas tariff operates an opt-out system, so if customers would like to pay by quarterly cash or cheque they can.
